Why 20/20 Parenting?
By Parents and Parent/Professionals for Parents
What makes 20/20 Parenting different? First of all, I have been there, lived through it, and survived it stronger than ever.
Yes, I lost the battle, but I gained so much knowledge and 20/20 hindsight in my search for the causes. And precisely BECAUSE I LOST, and know the agony of it, I am hugely committed to helping you avoid similar unnecessary loss.
And BECAUSE of my life experiences I am able to develop this site to provide what was missing for me throughout Ryan’s childhood.
My background:
What Parents Say:
"Kerry's honesty and reflection… made us all keenly aware of our vulnerability, regardless of how much we love our kids and think we are doing the right thing."
– Susan Nash, Chair of Public Programs, Mulgrave School, West Vancouver, BC
"The parents really got a lot of useful information from it... your dedication could save one child and for that you should be proud."
– Denise, Crescent Park Elementary, Surrey, BC
"Very informative", "I feel that this workshop was important to me", "sad but good", "it was good to see both a parent's view, as well as a recovering addict's view", "thanks for sharing"
– Soroptomist workshop attendees feedback
- Consumer of counseling psychology, 1990 - 1993 (I credit the personal gift of strength I received from this field for my ability to help you now in spite of my loss.)
- College studies including nine classes in psychology 1994 - 1995
- Crisis line counselor, 1996
Accomplishments in the Media and Communities:
- Newspaper coverage: Province, North Shore News, Oceanside Star, THE NEWS, Now, Peach Arch News, Langley Advance, Vancouver Courier, Langley Times
- TV and Radio: CBC, Fairchild, Global, CTV, OMNI, CBC Radio, CFUN Radio, CKNW Radio
- Crystal Meth Task Forces' Forum, Symposium presentations: Surrey, Vancouver, and Parksville/Qualicum Beach, White Rock/South Surrey, The Township of Langley, Langley Chamber of Commerce
- School presentations: West Vancouver, Surrey, White Rock
- Workshops: White Rock/S. Surrey Mental Health Tri-Team, Children of the Street Society, CDI College, Soroptomist International of the Langleys, BC Ministry of Children and Family Development, Northern Health Authority (Prince George, Terrace), Coquitlam Mediated Learning Academy
- Documentary Video Interview: "Death by Jib", about the ravages of crystal meth
- Headlines Theatre: workshop participant for the "soil-tilling" creative process of "METH".
NOTE: Unfortunately I am no longer in a position to provide school and community presentations.
