Drug and alcohol addiction and abuse. Recognition. Prevention. Treatment

20/20 Parenting. Recognizing and mitigating early vulnerabilities and risk factors.

Mission

To inform and support parents in understanding, recognizing, preventing, and finding effective treatment for, the many childhood vulnerabilities for adolescent drug & alcohol abuse and addiction

Vision

We are a dynamic prevention and remediation-based health resource center. We exist for the benefit of children and ultimately for the health and welfare of all communities.

Values

  • The health and welfare of every child from the moment he or she's parents commit to family planning, or from the moment of conception, to the day when a young adult is capable of self-sufficiency
  • Health, as requiring a balanced holistic approach to development, maintenance, and remediation
  • The role of parents and guardians: the most honorable, important, and challenging responsibility of raising our future generations
  • The right of parents to make well-educated choices regarding the direction of their child's health care
  • The hindsight, wisdom, and vision of parents who share experiences of loss as well as victory
  • The collective knowledge of evidence-based medicine offered by both conventional western and complementary/alternative medical fields.

Guiding Principles

  • We seek to support and collaborate with other initiatives involved in the health and welfare of children and families.
  • We encourage an integrated approach to health care
  • We endeavor to provide substantiated, evidence-based healthcare information and will not knowingly or intentionally breach our obligation to provide the highest quality information and services to parents and other caregivers.
  • Where controversial matters arise, our board of peer reviewers will attempt to reach scientific consensus. However, where this is not yet possible we may choose to present both sides of the controversy.
  • We respond with understanding and compassion at all times to the shortcomings and challenges of us all, taking into consideration the evolutionary state of our knowledge base, both personal and professional.
  • Personal information of contributors and their contributions shall be held in the strictest of confidence.
