Overview & Privacy Philosophy
This Policy does not apply to websites or services of third-parties that you may access through Eddy including Google Classroom and other providers of learning assessments, content and/or services. These websites or services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies before accessing any third-party website or services or providing them with personal information.
Information We Collect
Consistent with our privacy philosophy, Eddy only collects information from you and your child that is necessary to provide the Services or to comply with our legal obligations. Any information we collect from you or your child is only retained for as long as necessary to accomplish the purposes set forth below in the section titled How We Use Information We Collect.
Information We Collect Directly From You
When you create an account, you will be asked to provide certain personal information including your name, email address, and children’s names and email address. If you connect your Google account to Eddy, we will collect information from this account (such asname and email address). Collection of this information from you is necessary to provide the Services and allow you to access and use Eddy. You may revoke our access to your Google account at any time by updating the appropriate settings in the account preferences of your Google account.
Additionally, you may input information into Eddy when you use the Services. Examples of this type of information may include: your mobile phone number and email addresses for others with whom you want to share Eddy information, information about your child’s interests, learning needs and goals, and “to-dos” for you or others associated with their learning.
We also maintain records of customer service and other communications with users in order to provide you with the best possible service. If you contact customer service or provide feedback, we may retain your contact information and details about your communications with us.
Information We Collect Automatically
When you interact with the Services, we may automatically collect information about your use of the Services. For example, we may collect information about how often you log-in into Eddy, which features you use, and how long you spend in the application. We may also automatically collect information about your browser and/or device. This information may include: IP address, device identifiers and information, and location information. We may combine this automatically collected information with other information you provide.
Cookies & Other Tracking Technologies
At this time, Eddy does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
The information we collect automatically allows us to provide a seamless experience on Eddy and gives us important insights into how you are accessing and using the Services so that we can improve our services and provide excellent customer support.
Information We Collect From Google Classroom & Other Third-Parties
When you link your Eddy account to your child’s Google Classroom account, we will collect information about you or your child directly from Google Classroom. All data collected is READ-ONLY and includes the following OAuth scopes: Classroom courses, Classroom coursework, Classroom rosters and Classroom topics. This information may include the following types of data: identification data (id, name, avatar, etc.), educational data (courses, assignments, instructions, grades, points etc.), and activity data (submissions, status changes, etc.].
This information is necessary to provide the Services.
How We Use Information We Collect
Eddy will never sell you or your child’s information or provide you or your child’s information to third-parties except as necessary to fulfill the purposes set forth below. We may use your information for the following purposes:
Providing and Improving Our Services. To provide you with access to the Services; to provide you with customer service and support; personalize your experience using the Services; to match your data with data that we may collect from third-parties; to verify your identity or your child’s identity; to improve upon our products including adding new features and functionalities; to develop new products; to perform technical operations such as updating software; and to allow you to connect with other websites, services, or resources provided by third-parties.
Communications. To communicate with you, including via email or push notifications (depending on your settings), and to respond to your inquiries. These communications may include marketing communications from us about our products and services or the products and services of our business partners.
Referrals. If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend or another guardian about us, we will ask you for their name and email address. We will use the information you provide to automatically send them a one-time email inviting them to visit our Services. We do not share the name and email address you provide with any third party.
Service Providers. Our third-party vendors and subcontractors may access your information to provide services for us, including: payment processing, delivery customer services, hosting and serving the Services, sending marketing communications, conducting research and analysis, and developing or improving the Services. These service providers can only use your information as specifically allowed by us.
Protection of Rights. To protect our rights, interests, and property and the rights, property and safety of others, including to investigate or prevent suspected fraud or other unlawful activity.
Legal Compliance. To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including as part of a legal proceeding; to respond to a subpoena, warrant, court order, or other legal process; as part of a law enforcement or government investigation or request.
Business Operations. For the general administration of our business, accounting, recordkeeping, and legal functions. We may transfer your information in connection with a corporate change, including a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, dissolution, or bankruptcy and due diligence or negotiations related to these events.
Your Choices Regarding This Information
You have the right to request to review, change, correct, or delete the information in your user account. You can make this request by logging into the Account Settings section of the Eddy application and submitting a request or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We may require you to verify your identity before we provide you with your information or make any requested changes. In limited circumstances, often due to legal or regulatory reasons, we may be unable to fulfill your request. In such circumstances, we will provide a reason for the denial of your request in a timely manner.
While we are able to delete information we have collected from third parties including Google Classroom, we are unable to change or correct this information. If you would like this information changed or corrected, please contact the third party that is the source of this information. You may opt out of receiving marketing emails from us by clicking on the opt-out link in those emails or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can control the information we collect through cookies by using your web browser’s settings. If you delete cookies or set your browser to decline cookies, some features of the Services may not be available or work as designed. At this time, Eddy does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
Third Party Sites and Services
The Services may link to other websites or applications, including content offered by third parties that we do not control and whose privacy and data collection practices may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the practices employed by any websites or services other than our own. If you navigate to a third party website or service, you should review the privacy policies for that website or service before providing any personal information. The inclusion of a link does not imply our endorsement of any other company, its websites, or its products or services.
Data Storage & Retention
All information that we collect is persistently stored in the United States. At this time, the Services are only available to users located within the United States. Your information may be transferred to or stored on computers located outside of your state or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes set forth above in the section titled How We Use Information We Collect. We typically keep information related to marketing activities for as long as you continue to accept marketing communications from us and, upon request, we will delete such data in accordance with applicable law.

We may be legally required to hold some types of information to fulfill our statutory obligations. Legal requirements may also necessitate our retaining some or all of your personal information for a period of time that is longer than we might otherwise hold it, including to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or to protect our legal rights.

Eddy has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial policies and procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online. When we collect sensitive information, we encrypt that information while in transit and at rest.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Despite our security measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee that your information will not be subject to accidental or unauthorized loss, access, or use. Except as expressly required by applicable statute or regulation, we will have no liability for disclosure of information due to errors or unauthorized acts of third parties during or after transmission.
